Eron Eklund – a metal finishing expert looking to improve the production processes of his own aerospace metal finishing company – originally started writing database software in 1985, when he sold his wife’s Volkswagen to buy a Macintosh. It seemed like a good deal at the time, however, his wife didn’t agree. Regardless, he started writing the code for a very basic job management system.

After years of modifications from employee feedback, customer reviews, and various suggestions from partners, the job system slowly evolved, and Eron worked to include more detailed process planning, then eventually barcoding, Job Status Queues, pictures, the inclusion of document management and other features, including a billing system.

Customers and auditors had been telling Eron to share his software package for years, but the idea of removing all the customization to make it usable by other companies seemed too daunting. Finally in 2018 he pulled the trigger and got serious about making it customizable for other companies.
